James
began his career in youth ministry in 1991, serving first as an
intern at Bartow First Assembly of God and Youth Pastor for Free
Methodist Church. Before coming to Trinity, he served as Youth Pastor
at Cape Coral Assembly of God for four years.
James
participated in several street ministries while he attended Southeastern
College of the Assemblies of God in Lakeland, Florida. He went on
to attend Manna Christian College and continued his studies at Logos
Christian College where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in
Theology. When James was twelve years old, he heard a pastor talk
about the love of Christ and realized that he wanted and needed
that love in his own life. At the age of fourteen while attending
a youth camp, he began to feel a deep burden for his peers and realized
that God had a calling on his life to serve in youth ministry. Today,
he maintains that same passion for sharing the love of the Lord
with youth, especially those who are unchurched. "My desire
is to build significant relationships with the young people of Trinity
and in our community," says James. "Out of these relationships,
I hope to challenge youth to have a balanced relationship with Jesus
Christ. I believe we can change Florence one person at a time."
In
sharing his vision for Trinity, James explains the unique perspective
that he has already started to put into place at Trinity: "While
fusion is the name we have chosen for our youth ministry at Trinity,
it really is our identity. Defined as the combination of two separate
elements that join to become one, this explosive change in character
and in hearts-fusion--is exactly what Christ desires of us,"
explains James. "God wants us to become one with Him. Through
that relationship, we can change the world!"
Married
with three daughters, Laney, Janay, and Sophia, James and his wife Margaret
are wonderful additions to the body of Trinity.
