Wednesday Night Classes - Winter/Spring 2019

Glory Days - Led by Scott Barlowe - January 9 - February 13, 2019 - G Bldg. Rm 7/8

In this 6-session DVD study, Glory Days, bestselling author Max Lucado draws on the story of Joshua to show how God has a Promised Land for each of us to claim. In God’s plan, we win more than we lose, forgive as quickly as we are offended, and give as abundantly as we receive. Life has a way of taking the life out of us. Often we go through situations where the challenge seems so much greater than our strength. During such times, we can find hope and inspiration from the story of Joshua. God had called Joshua to take over from Moses and lead the Israelites into a paradigm shift from wilderness wandering to promise-believing. In Canaan, they would not fight for victory but fight from victory. God had a Promised Land in store for them, but they had to grasp that reality, change their mindsets, and take action to receive it. The same is true for us today. God is telling us that our best days - our “glory days” - are still ahead of us. We only need to grasp the truth and live in faith to realize this promise.

A Passion For The Christ - Led by Bill Allen - January 9 - February 13, 2019 - Cafeteria

Begin the new year learning to grow in love and passion for Jesus our Savior! In this class, we will discuss what passion really is, and how we see it demonstrated in the Bible through the faith of Abraham, the resolve of Daniel, the purpose of John the Baptist, the sacrifice of Stephen, and the perseverance of Paul.

Praying With Jesus - Led by Jim & Patsy Allen - January 9 - February 13, 2019 - G Bldg. Rm 6

In this 6-part study, Dr. Jim Banks, an EPC pastor from Durham, NC, invites you to the greatest conversation with the God who created you and loves you. Each session tackles practical issues, such as unanswered prayers or the challenge of making time for prayer in our fast-paced culture.

A time for all singles 22+ (divorced, never married, widowed, etc) to encourage each other through fellowship and prayer.

Romans 1:12 "When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours."

The Me I Want To Be by John Ortberg - Led by Fred Salley - February 20 - March 20, 2019 - G Bldg. Rm 7/8

In this five-session DVD small group Bible study, The Me I Want To Be, John Ortberg reveals how you can become the unique, fully alive person God intended you to be. Pastor and author John Ortberg teaches about how you can move toward becoming God’s best version of you in four specific areas: your mind, your time, your relationships and your experiences.

There is a me each of one of us wants to be…..someone who’s more kind and generous, patient, and loving. But there is a gap between the me I am and the me I want to be. Oftentimes we find it easy to trust God to bridge the gap between us and him, but we struggle to really live by grace and trust God to close the gap between the me I am and the I want to be. Becoming God’s best version of you is both God’s desire and the greatest task of your life. And here’s the good news…..he’s already working on it. Your life is God’s project, not yours.

The Art of Parenting by Dennis and Barbara Rainey - Led by Ross & Ashley Hill and Don & Joan Brown - March 27 - May 29, 2019 - G Bldg. Rm 7/8

You want your children to be safe, happy and successful but how do you achieve those goals?

In this 8-session DVD series and workbook, Dennis and Barbara will help you to experience God’s truth and apply His word in your family by focusing your attention on four crucial elements in your children’s lives: 1. Identity — understanding who they are in Christ, 2. Character — learning to live wisely and honorably, 3. Relationships — fostering godly connections with others, 4. Mission — understanding why they are here. When you apply biblical truths in these four areas, you can feel confident your children will have a foundation they can build upon for the rest of their lives.

Dennis and Barbara Rainey have spent decades helping families find biblical help to strengthen and transform family relationships. Through radio broadcasts, conferences, and other events, they have been teaching on the foundations necessary for building godly families. Now they bring insights and expertise gleaned from those years of ministry, as well as from their own personal experience of raising six children, to The Art of Parenting. Expanding on parenting themes shared with FamilyLife audiences in person and on the radio, Dennis and Barbara offer trusted advice on how to establish Christian values in your home.

Wednesday Night Classes - Fall 2018

The Fear Of God - Led by Matt Walton - October 10 - December 19

Romans 5:11 says, "Since then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men."  Paul and his ministry partners knew what it meant to fear the Lord.  That fear propelled them to new heights in their relationship with Christ and their work for Him.  My concern is that we have dismissed the fear of the Lord so that we can embrace a loving and graceful God that we need not fear.  But I believe that this moves our picture of God out of balance.  We'll study the Fear of the Lord and see how we can grow in a true understanding of what it means to fear Him.

Cultures in Conflict by Ray Vander Laan - Led by Bill Allen & Fred Salley - October 10 - November 7

Do you find it difficult to live the Christian life in our world today?  The Apostle Paul was faced with the same dilemma living in a Greco Roman culture that valued money, status, idolatry and pleasure.  In this study, you will learn how to live in a way that glorifies God in our secular Western world by walking in Paul's footsteps on his second missionary journey through Greece.

Gods At War by Kyle Idleman - Led by Fred Salley & Heather Walton - November 14 - December 19.

In this study, we will be challenged with the thought that perhaps all sin springs from the same source - IDOLATRY.  Kyle argues that there are countless gods (4 of which are love, money, pleasure and power) passionately at war for the throne of our heart.  Only by recognizing our misplaced worship and by enthroning Jesus can we experience true freedom and life.  Book/participant's guide is optional.
